Enobytes.com Reviews Moniker Wines, Following in Visionary Tradition of John Parducci

Marc Hinton of Enobytes.com reviews Moniker, luxury wines from California's Mendocino County, a new project helmed by the Thornhill family and Winemaker Mark Beaman in the 'visionary' tradition of John Parducci.

The Thornhill Family

Known for making "great wines with considerable value made from grapes grown with sustainable farming practices," Hinton rates each of the wines in the Moniker Premiere Collection "Very good." He notes that both the 2011 Moniker Cabernet Sauvignon and 2012 Moniker Chardonnay express "classic Mendocino.... characteristics with an interesting twist," and praises the "Robust and rustic" style of the 2012 Moniker Pinot Noir.

Mendocino’s late bud break is very special from a viticultural standpoint. We are able to pick much later than other regions, allowing the grapes to achieve an optimal balance of sugar and acidity.
